A reminder that LBS students can access Musicplayonline at home!  

There are many activities and games to support the students with their Music learning.

Please see instructions below on how to access:

Lake Bonavista School has a Musicplayonline subscription.  As part of our subscription, students are able to access the website at home.

Instructions:

• go to www.musicplayonline.com
• login as a 'student' and enter code j371630
• press the button that says 'access some fun!'

Once you are logged in, you will see a discover feature on the left hand side.  This is where your student can look for songs, games and activities that we have done in class.

Caroling

 Caroling

This week we have had fun reviewing some Caroling songs.  This has been a great opportunity for students to review known material and to learn some new songs.  

Caroling in the gym as a whole school is a wonderful experience as well.

Bluebells

 Bluebells

The Grade 1's and 2's have been working with the song 'Bluebells'

We started by learning the song and identifying the rhythms in the melody.

We then went to the Barred instruments to practice playing a Bordun of quarter and half notes on the notes F and C.

We finished our work with 'Bluebells' by playing a steady beat hand-clapping game with a partner.

Old Brass Wagon

 Old Brass Wagon

Grade 3/4 have been working with the song "Old Brass Wagon".  We have been practicing 16th notes, singing the song and have been learning the dance.  It has been fun learning how to Promenade and Do-si-do as we continue to work on moving to the beat in different ways.

Boomwhackers

 Boomwhackers

All LBS students have been working with the Boomwhackers this week.  Boomwhackers are percussion instruments -pitched coloured tubes tuned to a musical pitch by length. 

Grade 5/6 were tasked with figuring out how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in small groups by working together and listening to the intervals between the notes. They found it more challenging than they thought it would be.  

Grade 3/4 have been working on listening and knowing when it is their turn to play.  They have also been following Boomwhacker scores of various songs.

Grade 1/2 have been working on playing with good tone, and following teacher directions so they know when it is there time to play.

Kindergarten used Boomwhackers for the first time.  The main focus was how to play the Boomwhacker correctly and the importance of watching the teacher to know when it is there turn to play.

Autumn is Here

The Grade 3/4's have been participating in music activities around the concept of Autumn.  We have sung 'Falling Leaves' as a round, and we played the song on the Orff Instruments.  We read the story 'In the Middle of Fall'.  We also had a wonderful time participating in Mr. Del Gaudio's  'Autumn is Here' song and instrument activity.  All students had a turn to play the woodblocks, drums, shakers, bells and triangles.  Each instrument represented a different part of the lyrics in the song.
